Dart Drop Impact Testers
Designed specifically for use in QC/QA testing for the impact resistance of plastic film, the Tinius Olsen Free Falling Drop Dart Impact Testers are fully compliant with the requirements of ASTM D1709 and BSENISO 7765-1.
Under these test guidelines, these impact testers use the staircase method to determine the energy that causes plastic film to fail under the impact of a free-falling dart. This energy is expressed in terms of the weight of the missile falling from a specified height which would result in 50% failure of the specimens tested.
Under this method, weight is added, in standard increments, to the missile after each test, depending on the result of the previous specimen.
There are two models available, the model DD660 and the model DD1500. The model DD660 complies with test method A, whereas the model DD1500 complies with both method A and method B of the standards.
Key features include:
- Robust frame construction
- Simple, manual, specimen clamping
- Easy, solenoid actuated, dart release
